You're the undercover agent David Jones who's part of the secret agency IGI and in charge to protect the world from international terrorism. IGI-2: Covert Strike starts where the first part ended. So, again, you have to fight for your own, infiltrate enemy bases, wander through huge outdoor and indoor levels, hack computers and find the best strategy to solve the mission. You could say: a sneaker-shooter! Additionally, the game features multiplayer support where you can solve missions on special mp-maps.
David Llewellyn Jones, a seasoned covert operative and former British SAS soldier now working for the shadowy Institute for Geotactical Intelligence, is dispatched to the remote Carpathian Mountains on a high-stakes mission. A set of prototype EMP chips has been stolen from a high-tech American facility by a ruthless Russian mafia group, and Jones must recover them. After a daring HALO jump and a stealthy infiltration through a mineshaft into a weather station, he retrieves one of the chips, only for IGI's researchers to discover it is in fact an advanced, improved version of the stolen technology. Realizing the chips may hold far greater significance than anyone suspected, Jones's superiors task him with tracking down the rest, sending the lone agent deep behind enemy lines to unravel the mystery of what the stolen technology is truly meant to do.
