The 2012 release of Final Fantasy VII made its way to consoles with new Speed-Up, Battle Enhancement, and No Encounter features. It was later brought to PC.
The story takes place on a world whose very lifeforce, a flowing spiritual energy called the Lifestream, sustains all living things. That balance is under threat from the Shinra Electric Power Company, a world-dominating megacorporation headquartered in the sprawling industrial city of Midgar, which drains the Planet's Lifestream to harness its processed form, Mako, slowly killing the world in the process. Standing against them is AVALANCHE, an eco-terrorist group determined to bring Shinra down before it is too late. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit turned mercenary, is hired to aid AVALANCHE in a daring strike against one of the company's Mako reactors. In the shadowy slums beneath the city, Cloud crosses paths with a gentle flower girl named Aerith, drawing him into a struggle far greater than he ever imagined.
