During the closing years of the Second World War, the conflict is fought across multiple fronts by soldiers from different Allied nations. Among them are Australian infantryman Lucas Riggs in the North African desert, American navy pilot Wade Jackson in the Pacific, Soviet medic and sniper Polina Petrova amid the ruins of Stalingrad, and British paratrooper Arthur Kingsley in occupied France. Drawn together by Captain Carver Butcher, these veterans are recruited to form the first special operations task force, callsign Vanguard, with Kingsley appointed its leader. As the war nears its end, the squad sets out to investigate Project Phoenix, a secret Nazi program tied to a powerful enemy officer, following its trail deep into the heart of the crumbling Reich.
